The Church of Saints Peter and Paul dates from 1808. The land on which it stands was owned the Protestant Chapman family and it was donated to the Catholics on condition that the church door would not open on to the Main Street. The detached belfry is a more recent addition. When the church itself was built the ringing of bells from Catholic places of worship was still forbidden by law.

Clonmellon Church is open from 8am – 6pm.
